Dysautonomia

A malfunction of the nervous system that controls heart rate, blood pressure, and other automatic body functions.
Overview:
Dysautonomia is an umbrella term for disorders of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary functions like heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature control. One common form, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), causes an abnormal rise in heart rate upon standing. Symptoms can be wide-ranging and are sometimes linked to an underlying autoimmune condition or a prior viral illness.
